Hello Modlies, I have a few questions for you regarding World of Darkness/Werewolf: the Apocalypse.
In WoD Garou (werewolves) have the ability to "step sideways". This allows them to step out of the material realm and pass through a barrier known as the Gauntlet to enter the Umbra. The Umbra is a spiritual reflection of the material world. It is a place where the ties to spirits inhabiting the area are stronger. If an area has new urban development the buildings and such are unlikely to be seen in the Umbra, instead the Garou would see what the spirit of the place was. Fields, trees, flowers. Whatever was the natural state before the invasion of progress. Any single tree or flower may have it's own spirit in different stages of awareness. (Generally referred to as Awakening)
Especially given the state of Aellyn even if the Umbra were accessible I daresay any spirits still left alive would be so deeply asleep that it would be nearly impossible to converse with them. Moreover, stepping sideways is something that can be very difficult in places where industry and technology have taken over. The gauntlet becomes thicker, sometimes even dangerous to attempt to cross where the Weaver is at her strongest.
1. Would the Umbra be accessible at all?
2. Places where the Gauntlet is particularly thin, often wild places, are where Garou are able to replenish their gnosis (mechanically it's MP). If there is no Umbra would he still be able to recover gnosis?
When Garou shift or take on their full war form in front of normal humans, beings that have not been Awakened, they cause the other being to suffer from Delirium. Which is an ingrained fear response for those native to WoD. This would not have to affect people in game due to that rationale that it is a leftover in the collective unconscious from the millennia when Garou actively hunted humans. But it could also reasonably affect mortals that have no abilities of their own, no sense of what magic/the supernatural is in their native worlds. Would definitely require a permissions post, probably easiest to nix it altogether but no harm in asking.
3. Would shifting cause an innate fear/panic response in mortals?
4. What are the moon cycles like on Alleyn? (look an easy one!)
5. Would he be able to bring an item with him that has a spirit attached to it? He has 2 fetishes, actually. Both have Silver Spirits tied to them so they are effective on Garou. (one is a weapon, one is a tool)
I'm sorry WoD is like this
