I’m not sure if I want to do this or not but I figured I’d ask to see if it was even feasible:

Would a character be able to bring in another technically sapient character as one of their items/pets? I'm asking specifically with regards to the Fairy Tones from Hummy's canon. They're effectively just little magical creatures that traveled from Hummy's home world with her that help with her mission (collecting notes) and help the actual magical girls of the series transform/do their magic stuff. They can talk and are shown to have their own personalities (some more than others) but they're very bare-bones - I can't imagine really being able to app them by themselves or whatever.
