The Bestiary
Here you will find a directory of all the creatures that can be found in Aellyn's wilds and Havenwell's zoo organized by location where they can be found. Click on the location to see what animals can be found there. A creature's difficulty rating is a three star system determining how difficult they are to fight and defeat. One star is an easy fight even one character can win, two stars is a medium fight that requires experience or a small group, and three stars is difficult fight that requires experience or expertise and a group to win. If you have a suggestion for a creature to be added here, please apply for a 150 point AC Reward.

Havenwell Zoo
Clackoo [DOCILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ / ★ ★ These rainbow colored birds resemble chickens, except that even the babies are almost a foot tall and when they "chirp" it sounds more like the clacking of wood. An adult can reach the size of large dogs, easily clearing a meter tall. They're mostly flightless, but they do enjoy trying to fly and can get a few feet off the ground or glide when they get older. They eat a variety of seeds, simulated insect mealworms, or fruits and are generally not a threat - until threatened themselves. If a clackoo is harmed anywhere near another clackoo, the other birds will swarm the attacker relentlessly and in great numbers, screeching, pecking, and scratching until the offender is driven off. Alone, a clackoo can hardly be considered an enemy, but in numbers, they become remarkably difficult to deal with. They are almost exclusively found at the zoo. |
Sinory Lizard [DOCILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ These feathery lizards look a little like a cross between an iguana and a komodo dragon, being almost 2 feet in length from snout to the tip of their tail. They come in a variety of colors like striped blue and green, yellow and pink, silver and black, etc. They're most notable for the downy feathers on their legs and along their backs. They make a rumbling sound if you pet the down on their back. These lizards are known for their sluggish nature when it's anything less than hot hot hot, so they tend to slither away quickly to seek sources of heat like sunny spots, people, or stoves. You might want to keep them away from stoves. They enjoy eating the simulated meats or kibble provided by the zookeepers, but will also steal whatever food is on the table if it's not guarded. They are almost exclusively found at the zoo. |
Lohpeh [DOCILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ This large pink creature resembles a rabbit with long thin ears and powerful hind legs, except that it also sports brown antlers that sprout light blue leaves and pretty yellow flowers. The babies about half a foot tall not including the antlers and pink like bubblegum. As adults they can reach 2 feet tall not including the antlers. They eat mostly grasses and vegetables, and will happily munch on anything that even slightly resembles their preferred food - so hair, clothing, anything flowing. Their teeth are pretty sharp though, so be careful of the accidental nip here and there. They don't like to be alone, so they'll follow the largest group of people they can find, chasing after them to rub their antlers against their legs. Apparently it's to mark them as family. These are mostly found at the zoo, but they can also occasionally be found outside the walls. |
Nirofu [DOCILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ ★ A black and white giraffe-like creature with gangly legs, a long neck and two little stubs on the top of their heads that look like they're meant to grow into something much longer. As a baby, the creature is extremely awkward looking as it's trying to grow into its long limbs and neck and they vary in height from runts who are barely over 2 feet tall to ones that are nearly 4 foot in height. As adults, these creatures can range anywhere from 15 (4.6m) to 20 (6.1m) feet in height. They like to swing their heads and bash them into things as a form of play and once they start running, it's hard to get them to stop. They're extremely playful, but the zookeepers still haven't pinned down exactly what they like to eat. Feed them a variety of raw foods from meat to vegetables and these nirofu seem to gobble everything down. They are mostly found in the zoo, but on occasion a herd of them can be found outside the walls. Within Havenwell, they are extremely docile creatures, but outside the walls, they seem to be omnivores and will attack smaller prey en masse if they're hungry enough. At that point, their playful bashing and kicking becomes much more dangerous. |
Replicant Food [DOCILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ A creature spawned from a replicator failure in March of 2021, these hard-shelled creatures look like food with comically large googly eyes and spindly legs. They skitter about and cause trouble, but are otherwise harmless. The creatures can range from apples to plates of spaghetti, and their cries range as well, from squeaks and chitters to cries that say what food they are (Apple! Apple!). The Replicant Food is only found within the conservation areas and research towers while native scientists study how they came to be. When they were running wild through the city, they could occasionally team up with other foods to create a massive food monster that attacked people. When individuals of this new species(?) are attacked, all others in the area will swarm the attacker. They aren't particularly dangerous though. More of an annoyance as your sandwich runs away screaming "BALONEY." |
Other Mobs | The following creatures can also be found here: Please see the "Botanical Garden/Zoo" section of the Locations page as this is not an exhaustive list. |
Inner City
One-Eyed Lizard [DOCILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ An iridescent scaly purple and green lizard approximately 8 to 10cm in length from tip to tail. It has a single eye at the top of its head that can rotate to see 360 degrees around it. This creature's main defenses are its tough hide and a spine on the tip of its tail which it whips at predators to dissuade them from eating it. It's more likely to run than fight, however, and can usually be found sunbathing on exposed rock with its eye closed. |
Ainean Mice [DOCILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ Ainean mice are purple and/or pink rodents, although they tend to lean more toward the purple side with some pink accents. These mice can be anywhere from the size of a panda mouse to a chinchilla, and despite their size discrepencies are all considered the same species. They live within and near Ainea's temple as they are her temple animals, but can be found throughout the city on occasion, coming and going as they please. Temple animals are considered sacred to the residents of the city, and harming, hunting, or killing them is strictly forbidden. Violations of such transgressions are punished in some way without exception, severely if the situation calls for it, and misfortunes can sometimes fall upon those who challenge the wrath of the gods regardless of their alignment. While they're tamer than wild rodents, these creatures will not suffer being treated like pets and attempts to capture them will not go well. |
Diachtian Crows [DOCILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ Diachtian crows are white raven-like birds with red tips on their wings and tend to be larger than what most people would think crows could be. Their calls are sharper, but lower pitched than earth crows, and their intelligence is on par with the corvids of earth. These birds are the most common to be seen flying through Havenwell's artificial sky, although they may be difficult to spot as their white coloring tends to help them blend into the false clouds. They live within and near Diacht's temple as they are their temple animals, but can be found throughout the city. The crows are habituated to people, but do not enjoy being handled and will peck and bite those who try. |
Ohman Cats [DOCILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ Ohman cats come in a variety of shapes and sizes, from small kittens to Maine Coon sized cats and even bobcat sized felines on occasion. Their fur is always some variation of blue, gold, or blue and gold with stripes, spots, swirls, and stridations in the fur. They can also be seen roaming the city or at Ohma's temple as they are their temple animals. While they will on occasion tussle with the Ainean mice or Diachtian crows, it's extremely rare that you will see any temple animal eating another temple animal, despite cats and mice being natural predator and prey. What the Ohman cats eat is a mystery, but they seem well fed regardless. While they're tamer than feral cats, these creatures will not suffer being treated like pets and attempts to capture them will not go well. |
Rawnan Dragonlings [DOCILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ Rawnan dragonlings are fledgling rainbow dragons that can range from 2 to 5 feet in length. They are elongated scaled reptiles with wings and claws, and their silver bodies have a rainbow sheen to them. They are capable of flight or of slithering across the ground, but are most often seen lounging at Rawna's temple where they live. Unlike the other temple animals, Rawnan dragonlings tend not to move far from their temple home. Despite being called 'fledglings,' the priests don't think these creatures will ever grow larger than they already are. Or, if they do, it takes hundreds of years for them to do so. They spend most of their days sleeping and will not suffer people to touch them. |
Other Mobs | The following creatures can also be found here: [RARELY] Somnus Vines in abandoned parts of the outer city |
Outside the Walls
Ink Spider [HOSTILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★Ink Spider These black spider-like creatures are generally the size of a medium dog, and thus small for a monster. They have very basic melee attacks, using their fangs and their sharp legs to bite and claw at people. They are the most commonly found enemy outside of the walls. Their exoskeletons are hard and when they die, they smash into a black goo. They tend to travel in packs, using sheer numbers rather than intelligence or strategy to overwhelm their prey. |
Outskirts Hare [DOCILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ A shy creature, roughly the size and shape of an earth hare, covered in fuzzy-looking, curly pink hair and cat-like whiskers. Normally quite timid, this creature's poor eyesight causes it to flee when it feels threatened, and relies largely on a sense of touch to navigate its surroundings. Contact with this creature's fur is markedly pleasant, but its skin discharges an oil that causes mild skin irritation on contact when it's nervous. Active mostly at night time. It's an uncommon creature to find in the wild, but a fan favorite at the zoo. (Created by Mel!) |
Ansaurini [ANNOYING] | DIFFICULTY: ★ A rare bipedal feathered bird with sharp claws and teeth good for chomping; some possess flight capabilities, but the majority are prone to a lazy waddle. Mostly harmless and deceptively unassuming until you turn your back- and suddenly it's run off with something it stole off your person! They are excellent at escaping, though they can be traced back to their hoard, and if their collection is raided they will make a lot of noise in protest. Just watch your back- they will try again until you leave their territory. Truly, a horrible thing. |
Other Mobs | The following creatures can also be found here: Lohpen, Clackoo, Nirofu, One-Eyed Lizard, [EXTREMELY RARE] "Bone Giraffe" |
Danger Zones
"Bone Giraffe" [HOSTILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ ★ ★ A nearly 20-foot tall, long-necked skeleton of a four-legged creature long dead with a single curved horn protruding from its skull and a sharp snout. It's usually found lying in a heap, as if it laid down and died that way. A black seven-petaled flower sometimes (but not always) grows from the skull and beneath the skeleton is an oily black film. Touching the oil slick activates the creature, which draws the oil up into the skeletal cage. Its main attacks are brute force, using its bony legs and neck to kick and slam against its prey, and its acid breath. It breathes a black fume that sizzles and burns anything it touches. This monster is a rare, but dangerous enemy to encounter. |
Rive Talon [HOSTILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ ★ In the past these creatures may have been canines of some form, now they seem to have melded with the detritus of the fallen buildings and creatures of the landscape. Extra spikes, ridges, and protrusions extend from its body at odd angles. Many of them are metal or stone, rather than bone. And some of the bones clearly were not originally its own. (Created by Sierra!) |
Somnus Vines [HOSTILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ These vines look brown and dead, the leaves withered and curled up. When characters hack into them, the vines release a puff of yellowish dust. Inhale the dust or get it anywhere near your face and over time, you'll begin to get sleepy - very sleepy. It's hard to keep your eyes open, no matter your resistance to poisons or magic, and eventually you'll find yourself falling asleep wherever you are. And once you're asleep? The vines start moving, crawling toward you at a snail's pace. Hopefully you did bring a friend because you'll need their touch to wake up and stay awake long enough to get away from the vines before they pull you deep within their grasp. Often found growing in abundance over rubble and rocks, especially in ruined cityscapes. |
Unknown Flower [HOSTILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ ★ This rare flower is brown stemmed, with ruddy broad leaves with yellow spots and large fuschia flowers with blue pistils and yellow tendrils. Surprisingly beautiful, but upon contact can short out electronics and immobilize people temporarily with a toxin. The flower's tendrils then snake out and wrap around its prey, utilizing an acidic excretion that can burn through metal. Once this flower takes root in an area, it can quickly overrun it with its growth. |
Unknown Entity [HOSTILE] | DIFFICULTY: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A creature of unknown origins, this giant beast's footprints easily outsize a car. Its fist was glimpsed in October of 2019 when it punched its way through the barrier and the outer wall of Havenwell, but it has since disappeared. Sometimes in the distance, a hulking bipedal shadow can be seen hazily through the storm's swirling winds, but it never seems to get closer than that. Whatever it is, if it's size at that distance is any indication, you definitely do not want to be messing with it at any cost. What is known is that it is bipedal, furry, has massive fists, and can launch boulders with the same ease as throwing pebbles. Although rarely sighted, if your group happens to glimpse it, run back to safety. |
