Activity Check & Rewards

Welcome to Hugtopia's Permanent Activity Check and Reward Page! First, please familiarize yourself with the AC requirements and rules.
  1. Activity Check is tallied at the end of every month. You can post your activity at any time between the 1st of the current month at 12:01:01AM and the final day of the current month 11:59:59PM. A reminder to post your AC will be posted ONCE three days before AC is closed on both the OOC Community and on Plurk. There will not be a warning post.
  2. Only comments posted between those times count for AC for that month. However, you can use a thread that started in a different month so long as the comments you submit are during the AC period. Regardless, you cannot use the same thread more than twice. This means if you use Thread A for the month of May and June, you cannot use it again even if there are new comments for the month of July. Threads are good for 2 uses up to a MAXIMUM of 4 months.
  3. The AC requirements are:
5 network, prose, or action bracket log comments spread between up to 2 threads OR
1 post with 5 comments across any responding threads
  4. Acceptable threads and posts for AC must be from the [community profile] hugtopia or [community profile] hugtopia_logs communities. We do not accept Test Drive Meme or other OOC/IC Memes for Activity Check.
  5. Failure to post AC for any month results in a removal from the game. If you are removed from the game, you have three (3) days after AC is closed to contact a mod to reverse your removal. If you reverse your removal, it counts as a strike. If you took a strike the previous month and failed to post AC in the current month, you cannot reverse your removal and will need to reapply.
  6. Failure to make AC results in a strike. Taking a strike means you cannot hiatus or take a strike in the next month: you must make AC or you will be removed from the game. You may not hiatus for two months in a row without special mod permission. 3 strikes within a 6 month period will result in removal of that character from the game.
  7. For the purpose of AC Rewards, you cannot use a thread you used for AC for AC Rewards. (See AC Rewards for more information)
  8. Your first month after acceptance, you are exempt from AC. Huzzah!

How to Post Activity Check
First! Post a BLANK comment below with your character's NAME and CANON as the title. If you don't know how to post a blank comment, in the text area, type < and hit send. This is now your permanent AC comment. Please keep this link somewhere handy for yourself!
This is an example of a Permanent AC comment

Second! When you wish to post AC, post a new comment under your permanent AC comment with ACTIVITY CHECK: MONTH YEAR as the title. Copy-paste and fill out the text box to fulfill your AC. Replace "URL_HERE" with the URL of your thread and # with the number of YOUR applicable comments.

Third! You're now finished with AC. Rejoice and relax! If there is an issue with your AC submission, a mod will comment to your submission directly and request a revision. Post your revision as a new comment in reply to the mod's comment.

All About AC Rewards
AC Rewards are a great way other than events to get item regains, more luxuries to use in town, weapons, and to open more areas for exploration within Aellyn. They also help us track which gods are growing stronger as time progresses! Before gaining AC Rewards, please familiarize yourself with the rules surrounding them:
  1. You cannot use a thread for AC Reward that you used for Activity Check. Additionally, if you pass AC via a strike or hiatus, you cannot claim AC Rewards for that month.
  2. You can use any threads from [community profile] hugtopia or [community profile] hugtopia_logs, but you cannot use Test Drive Meme or IC/OOC Meme threads. You can use Inbox submissions. Threads are good for 2 uses up to a MAXIMUM of 4 months.
  3. Threads posted to gain AC Reward points are due on the 1st of the following month by 11:59:59PM EST. For example, September's AC Rewards are due October 1st. Only threads posted between the 1st from 12:01:01AM EST to the end of the month 11:59:59PM EST will count for that month's AC Rewards.
  4. To be eligible for AC Reward, the thread must contain some form of sustained positive physical contact between your character and any number of other characters. The comments between the first and last contact point do not specifically have to reference it, but it should be sustained during the comments you are counting. These are examples of sustained positive physical contact: a hug, a kiss, cuddling, holding one another, lying in a pile of pillows on top of or touching one another, holding hands, etc. These are NOT examples of sustained positive physical contact: a high-five, tapping someone on the shoulder, brushing against a person in a crowd, punching someone, stabbing someone, fighting or killing someone, etc.
  5. Please submit your threads starting where the contact is initiated and count your comments until the contact is ended. Each comment where physical contact happens is considered 1 point. Therefore, if you have two characters cuddling and you post 7 comments before the cuddling ends, you receive 7 points!
  6. R18, NC-17 content (aka smut) is allowed! Please label your thread as such so we're aware of the type of contact contained within before we open it. Thank you!
  7. You can post AC Rewards and request Reward Items at any time, but please keep edits of your comment to a minimum. Once received, a mod will comment to approve or request a revision for your Reward Items if requested.
  8. ICLY what happens with AC Rewards is the characters will have a package delivered to them from their aligned deity's temple. The robots are remarkably good at delivering even oddly shaped or sized packages and they somehow always seem to find your character at an opportune moment when they're free and available. The character signs for the package and congratulations! Enjoy your gift from the gods - just don't ask how it got here because the natives honestly don't know.

How to Post AC Rewards
First! When you wish to post AC Rewards, post a new comment under your permanent AC comment with AC REWARD: MONTH YEAR as the title. Copy-paste and fill out the text box to submit your AC Rewards. Write the god which your character supports. Replace "URL_HERE" with the URL of your thread and # with the number of YOUR applicable comments. Tell what what type of contact it is (Hug, Cuddling, Sex, etc.).

AC REWARD FORM

This is an example of how to post AC Rewards

Second! If you wish to just keep saving your rewards, you're done! If you wish to cash in some of your points to request a Reward Item, however, keep reading. There are several Reward Items that the gods can give you in return for helping them restore their world. These range from simple luxuries to regains from your homeworld to the chance to open more areas for exploration. Look below for a list of currently available rewards. You can submit a request for Reward Items at any time!

If you wish to submit for a Reward Item, post a new comment under your permanent AC comment with REWARD ITEM: MONTH YEAR as your title. Copy-paste and fill out the text box to submit your Reward Item request. You can submit more than one item request in a single comment. Write what you want in Item Requested and write the price (number of points) required to purchase it. If you are purchasing more than one item, write the total number of points you need to pay under Reward Subtotal. Then calculate your Remaining Points for your future reference.

REWARD ITEM REQUEST FORM

Third! A mod will reply to your post to approve your purchase. Profit time! Enjoy your well earned rewards and feel happy knowing you're helping to save the world. If there is something you would like to purchase that either isn't listed or you aren't sure what category it would fall under, please contact a mod and we'll work with you to get you a fair price for a custom item or even add that category to the list permanently. You can either contact us via the Mod Contact Page or reply to the Questions thread below in the comments.

  • Item Regain: Small Your character can regain something small from home. It cannot be a weapon, anything magical, or anything alive. Examples include: books, photographs, mementos, new clothes or outfits, stuffed animals, toys, games, etc.
  • Ammunition A case of 50 ammunition for one (1) weapon your character currently owns. Examples include: energy packs for laser weapons, bullets for handguns, shells for shotguns, etc.
  • Elemental Power: Minor (Fire, Ice, Electricity, Earth or Air) Your character gains minor elemental powers within one element of their choice. With this power your character is minorly resistant to damage of that same type and can perform minor tricks with it. You can buy this upgrade multiple times to buy more elemental powers, but buying two of the same type of this upgrade will not increase its power. Examples of available powers and resistances are:
♥ Fire You can make your body warmer and can hold hot things without an oven mitt for a few minutes. You can warm others with sustained touch. You can keep your tea cup warm as long as you're holding it.
♥ Ice You can chill a drink or cool yourself off on a hot day with a touch, and you can withstand colder temperatures a bit longer than average. You can cause a light frost to grow on a glass or metal surface, but it only lingers so long as you're in contact with it.
♥ Electricity You can charge your tablet and other small handheld electronic devices just by holding them. You can turn on lights by snapping your fingers. You're immune to static shock and can give others a light static shock for funsies.
♥ Earth You can cause one plant to grow and bloom with a sustained touch, but once you let go it goes back to its normal life cycle. You no longer suffer from hayfever or plant/pollen based allergies. You find that you're steadier on your feet than normal.
♥ Air You can create a gentle localized breeze with the wave of a hand that can flutter someone's hair or clothes, or ruffle a curtain indoors. You can make leaves dance haphazardly along the ground, directing their overall direction, but not their individual motions. You feel lighter on your feet than before, like you've lost weight despite not changing physically.
  • Appearance Modification: Minor You can choose one part of your character's appearance to undergo a minor cosmetic change. For example, their hair or skin are softer, their skin is fresh and clear, their eyes seem brighter, their hair can grow in a natural shade different from their own hair (black, brown, blonde, etc.)
  • Home Improvement: Rooms With each purchase of this upgrade type, you can choose to add 1 room to the house your character is currently living in. 50 points
  • Item Regain: Medium Your character can regain a medium-sized object from home. It can have limited magical abilities or even be alive as long as it doesn't exceed 3 feet in any dimension. If it is alive, it cannot be an appable character.
  • Weapon: Small Your character can acquire a small non-magical weapon like a sword under 2 feet in length, a crossbow, or a handgun with 6 shots. Weapons must be smaller than 2 feet in any dimension and cannot be made of superior technology like lasers or heavy gunpowder.
  • Elemental Power: Medium (Requires prior purchase of Elemental Power: Minor of the same elemental type) Your character gains a better understanding of how magic works in Aellyn and becomes more attuned to their chosen element. They gain better resistance against their chosen element and can perform some minor real magic with it, on top of the tricks they already learned. Examples of medium elemental magics include:
♥ Fire You can create small magical, non-harmful flames in your hands that cast a warm glow around you, cause candles and wood to catch fire with a touch and are resistant to fire to the point where you can no longer get 1st degree burns.
♥ Ice You no longer feel cold in weather down to 32F/0C and can form icicles in your hands up to 1 foot long from water or cause snowflakes to form around you like a snowglobe. You can cause frost to coat windows and metal surfaces that linger minutes after you're gone.
♥ Electricity You no longer need to worry about minor electrical shocks, even from errant electronics or by doing things like sticking a fork in a socket (We don't recommend it, but you do you.) You can arc harmless but showy arcs of electricity between your fingertips, charge medium-sized electrical devices, or even cause a pleasant massage-like buzz at will in people you touch.
♥ Earth You can cause plants you've attuned with to continue to grow at an expedited rate even when you're not around or move small bits of earth in a two-foot radius around you, like pushing rocks and dirt out of the way. You're also sturdier and hardier than before, finding you feel more solid and are thus harder to push around.
♥ Air You can create small 1 foot in diameter air bubbles that can hold an object up to 2 pounds (1kg) in weight. You're able to move lightweight objects with a wave of your hand as the air sculpts and moves around it. You're also lighter than before and find that, with concentration, you can hover up to a foot off the ground.
  • Appearance Modification: Medium You can choose one part of your character's appearance to undergo a medium cosmetic change. Examples of this include: aging a few years up or down (maximum of 5), they can grow taller (max height is 7 feet for all creatures), change their natural hair color to grow in an unnatural shade (blue, pink, purple, rainbow), or make their eyesight keener and get rid of their glasses.

75 points
  • Cross-Canon Power Sharing (Requires written permission from both players involved) Your character can learn a power, spell or 'magical' skill from another character's canon. In world, this is as if the two characters spent time training together and learning from one another. The canon must be represented within the game at the time of power-sharing and reward purchase. For example, Character A is from a world with no powers and Character B is from DragonBall. Player A and B agree for Character B to teach Character A the Kamehameha. Player A submits the request for Cross-Canon Power Sharing detailing what power or spell they are going to receive (Kamehameha) and Player B comments that they agreed to it. Player A pays the fee, learns Kamehameha, and all is right with the world until they blow up a building.
  • Creature Creation Create your own creature to be a part of Aellyn's beastiary and monster index! Your creature can be A) a completely original creation, B) an imported creature from your character's canon, or C) a modified creature from your character's canon. These creatures will not be pets, but wild animals that will appear within Aellyn's wilds or at Havenwell's conservation zoo or botanical gardens. Please use the description form below when applying for this reward. All submissions must be reviewed and approved by mods before implementation. For an example of what the creature descriptions should look like, please refer to the Beastiary.

Name: The name of the creature
    Nature: Hostile or Docile
Difficulty: How difficult the creature is to fight on a scale of 1-3
Location: Where can the creature be found - Zoo, Inner City, Outside the Walls, Danger Zones
Description: Describe what the creature looks like, how it acts, what it eats, etc. 300 words or less.
Picture: LINK - if there is a picture available, please link it here, you must have permission to use this picture freely (aka, no stealing art against the will of the artist)

  • Mystery Box A strangely colored sealed box of varying sizes. It must be kept for 1 week after purchase before it suddenly pops open like a Jack-in-the-Box in the presence of its owner. What comes out of it is a mystery tailored to the purchaser.

100 points
  • Item Regain: Large Your character receives something large from home. It can be magical or alive so long as it doesn't exceed 7 feet in any dimension. If it is alive, it cannot be an appable character.
  • Weapon: Large Your character purchases a large weapon of superior technology that can be up to 7 feet in any dimension. Examples include: shotguns, machine guns, laser guns, laser rifles, greatswords, warhammers, or an unlimited magical item from home so long as its magic does not break the game.
  • Vehicle Purchase Your character purchases a personal vehicle like a motorcycle, bicycle, or medium-sized 2 or 4 seater car. These vehicles will require fuel purchases (25 points each), but you will receive a 1 month supply of fuel automatically. 1 month of fuel is enough for daily average commuting and riding. Long trips like road trips will consume 2 days of fuel for every 1 day of travel.
  • Elemental Power: Major (Requires prior purchase of Elemental Power: Medium in the same element type) Your character becomes knowledgeable about their chosen element, forming a close bond with it and growing in power. They gain greater resistance than ever before and can perform minor offensive magic with their chosen element. Examples of major elemental powers include:
♥ Fire You are now immune to fire damage up to 2nd degree burns, but can still take damage from staying within a fire for too long. You can cast a fireball and throw it, whereupon it bursts on contact with a solid object and spreads harmful fire in a 3 foot radius from point of impact.
♥ Ice You find that now even extreme cold like jumping into icy waters has no effect on you for up to 20 minutes. You can create and fling icicles up to one foot long as far as 30 feet away through the air. You're able to freeze small objects of glass and metal in ice up to half an inch thick with sustained contact. The ice remains until it naturally melts.
♥ Electricity You can survive even major electric shocks and can shoot and arc lightning from your hands at a single target up to 30 feet away. This electricity causes damage to your target, blowing them backwards off their feet.
♥ Earth Your ability to grow plants has changed to the point where you can command one or two plants to move at your will within their natural ability (i.e. you can't make trees walk, but vines can ensnare someone near them). Your ability to move earth has expanded to moving medium sized rocks and dirt up to five feet around you. You find that only the hardest of blows can knock you down now.
♥ Air You can create large air bubbles up to 5 feet in diameter, capable of carrying up to 20 lbs (9kg) in weight. Your bubbles are difficult to pop without a weapon and you can push objects up to 20lbs in weight with the power of wind. You find that you're lighter than ever and can float up to 3 feet off the ground with concentration, 1 foot with ease.
  • Appearance Modification: Major You can choose one part of your character to undergo a major cosmetic change. Examples of this include: getting a cybernetic arm, replacing an eye with a robotic part, having gills installed so you can breathe underwater, changing your hand into a claw, etc. All major changes must be approved by a mod before purchase.

150 points
  • Terraforming Players can request a patch of land (maximum 160ft/50m x 160ft/50m - approximately half the size of an American football field) that will be altered into a zone that meets their specifications, within reason. They are natural spaces that can be enclosed or open, something like a miniature biome with different temperature conditions, weather, humidity, creatures, etc. These spaces are public areas, accessible to everyone at any given time and cannot be used exclusively for one person or persons. They can be reserved for short-term events, eg. reserving a park for a party or claiming a field for a sports game. They cannot be used for personal or owned locations, such as a private research field or an enclosed private greenhouse, as that is the purpose of Player Run Businesses. The terraformed locations will exist in the expanded city area (outside the original wall zone) as most of the original city has no space left. There may be some exceptions for smaller terraformed zones depending on available space.

Examples of terraform area options include, but are not limited to things like:
    • a fishing pond with a collection of fish from other worlds
    • a communal garden/greenhouse that isn't as strictly maintained by the locals with healthy soil for growing crops
    • a small natural mine with periodically-refreshing materials

2 players can split the cost evenly in order to terraform a joint area. Up to 4 players can band together to double the size of the available land (100m x 100m) for a larger project. For example, 4 players can put in 75 points each to get a 100m square of land. The land cannot be divided into separate sections, but must be a single joint area (eg, 25m for mining, 25m for farming, 25m for parkland is not allowed).

If you select this reward please include the following form in your request:
    Terraform Type:
Description of Request: limit to 500 words preferred
Size: roughly how big you want it to be
Location Preference: where within the walls would you like it to be?
    Anything else?

The location comes with the basic needs necessary for their establishment included such as: cooking equipment, furniture, basic decorations, music players and speakers, etc. Apply here with your idea for a business using the form below. A mod will discuss your application with you and adjust the request as necessary. Once your request is approved, head over to Player Run Businesses Index to register your business as officially open. You can buy repeatedly to expand your business to more locations.

    The application form:
    Player Name: Your name!

  • Third Character Slot: This is an OOC reward that allows you to bring a third character into the game, above the regular 2 slots. To qualify for this reward, you cannot have received a strike within the last 3 months of the game, and you must have properly passed Activity Check in the previous month (i.e. not via hiatus). Final decisions on approval of this AC Reward is at the mod team's discretion.
  • Day Trip Outside the Walls: A mini-plot tailored for 3-6 characters to venture outside the walls for an afternoon. This could be to retrieve something, or scout for new changes in the area, or perhaps just to see a little slice of what the world is like outside the city. Characters will be given a single-use exo-suit that will protect them temporarily from the outside environment. Players are encouraged (but not required) to help design 1 plant or animal to include in the game, giving you a chance to help shape your own adventure. At the players' discretion, this trip can also include a robot guide to assist either as a mod-controlled NPC or as a background non-speaking NPC.
